Back-to-School Shopping at Marshalls and T.J.Maxx

Though, I have to admit that it was hard not to be distracted by the cute clothes I saw for me or the fun things I saw for around the house. I had to keep reminding myself that we were there for school shopping!

He had to come investigate what I was doing near his toy box, even though he was in the middle of lunch.

Back-to-School Giveaway: Wordlock

My first year of teaching, I taught 6th grade- new middle-schoolers. I had to use a significant amount of time that first week teaching my students how to open their lockers and constantly reminding them of their locker combinations.

I could blame the age, but I still tend to forget the combination for lock I take with me to the gym. And if you forget that combination, the lock is no longer any good to you.

Back-to-School GREEN Giveaway: Smencils

Back-to-School Giveaway: The North Face Vault Backpack

Every child headed back to school needs a backpack! Cookie's The Kids Department Store sent me The North Face Vault Backpack to review for my soon-to-be kindergartener.

As backpacks go, in my opinion, you can't go wrong with North Face: very durable and high quality! I don't want to have to replace a backpack partway through the school year and I don't think that will be an issue with this one! This backpack retails for $39.99 and has two pockets- enough for everything that kids need for back-to-school, but not so many that things get lost!

Backpack is available in a variety of colors. We were sent a red one.

Cookie's has a huge selection of items for kids: from school uniforms(and really reasonable- polos from $3.99!), to outerwear and accessories. I had excellent customer service and really fast shipping. I would definitely shop through their site again.

Back-to-school: Eco-friendly Lunch Box Giveaway

My oldest starts full-day kindergarten at the end of the month. Instead of having him buy school lunches, I plan on packing his lunch. I try to give my boys chores or work on different habits with them. As a former teacher, I love charts to keep track of these things. I love the visual for the kids- reminders as to what they have to do as well as a way for them to see how they are doing.

Back-to-School Giveaways Kick-off: School Pak

Welcome to the Back-to-School Celebration! A week of reviews and giveaways hosted by Tammy @ Tammy's Two Cents and me! Be sure to check back here and at Tammy's blog throughout the week!

Time to shop for school supplies! I reviewed School Pak a few weeks ago, which allows you to do your supply shopping online and have all of your child's supplies come to you, without having to deal with the crowds. If you missed that, you can check it out here.

One of you will win a generic pre-packaged School Pak: a pencil box, eraser, school glue, crayons, washable markers, pencils, colored pencils, 4 notebooks, 2 pocket folders, scissors, and looseleaf paper.


All supplies that your child can use! Or that you can keep on hand for when you need them.

Update on Back-to-School Celebration

Tammy and I already have some really fun items lined up for our Back-to-School Celebration! We are, of course, still looking for more!


But, I just wanted to tell you that one of the items you can win will be from CSN Stores. They have just about everything you can think of- things like wall sconces, but also lots of back-to-school necessities like backpacks, nap mats, and lots of other school supplies!

 Okay, at least I waited until July to start talking about Back-to-School!  But, really, it will be here before you know it!   Tammy from Tammy's Two Cents and I are teaming up to bring you a week of back-to-school related reviews and giveaways during the first week in August.   While we each have some lined up already, we'd love to get some more sponsors.   So, if you have a product that is related to back-to-school that you would like to have featured here, please contact me at thingsicantsaymichelle at gmail dot com.   Backpacks, school supplies, school clothes, organizers, maybe even a special treat for the moms to celebrate back-to-school time!
