Hey, It's Okay

Hey, It's Okay....

To wish for a giant bottle of wine when you are stuck in traffic in the pouring down rain, your fuel light comes on, and a child pukes.

To read a book while your husband drives because watching him drive gives you a panic attack.

To get annoyed when you inform your mother of your plans and she says "That's okay," like you need her permission to do anything.

To wish your family could be a little more subtle about which of your children is their favorite or better yet, for them not to actually have a favorite.

To think the sweet potato casserole you made for Thanksgiving dinner was the best thing on the table.

To think your sister needs to chill the F out when it comes to her son.

To be jealous of your sil's amazing weight loss.

To feel a little left out when your siblings talk about all the things that they do together when you aren't there.

To miss your friends and wish you could spend more time with them than your family when you are visiting back home.

To be relieved to be back in your own bed after a long trip.

To know that you probably won't ever catch up with all you missed when you were out of town for a long trip and decide not to even try. It's okay if the delete button is your friend and you just start over fresh.

I LOVE Glamour. I have a subscription, and Hey, It's Okay is one of the things I make sure I read every week!

I really liked your list, Shell.

The delete button is often my friend, too! And, I smiled REALLY BIG when I read the second one. My husband's driving gives me a panic attack, too!

Like Jessica said, why do we always seem to need a vacation from the vacation. Although I am not at all sure that visiting family qualifies as a vacation :P

Hope you are able to relax and have that glass of wine. Sounds like you could use it !

Love it. It's okay to be relieved when the mandated family time is over. (And in my case this year, it's okay to be thrilled the In-Laws were absent from all festivities!) Hope you got your wine--and a chance to relax at home (vomit-free) at least for a little while. Cheers.

I'm glad to hear these things are okay, because several of them apply to my. Especially that second one. And the sil's weight loss (except it is my cousin). And the delete button....sometimes I think of it as the "sanity restorer" because it is necessary.

Glad to have you back!

I ALWAYS read when DH is driving and we are on long car trips! Course if I hadn't been I might have seen the car that hit us Christmas Eve 2 years ago. The one where we ended up stuck om the side of the highway for 6 hours and then spending Christmas eve in a hotel.

This was a great post! I am happy to be home again too! I'm starting to think that families at the holidays are what ruin it for me. It only takes one person to make it uncomfortable for the whole group. I think from now on we are just going to say we are snowed in! Yes, even if there is no snow ;-)

I love this idea! I might have to do one of my own this week!

And it IS OK to use that delete button sometimes. Or the 'mark all as read' button.

I hate telling someone my plans and they say "It's OK" like I was asking. Hello? I am 30 something years old! I am not asking, I am TELLING you what I am going to do.

Sheesh.
