Mommy Moments: Boys, Bras, and Boobs

Do you have those moments where you think OMG, I never thought I/my kids would say/do that.

No, not me....and not my kids.....

And then, motherhood proves you wrong!

Mommy Moments Monday is our chance to share those.

I should probably go ahead and admit that I laugh inappropriately when this stuff happens.

Sometimes, it's either laugh or cry.

I much prefer laughing.

As you probably know, I have three little boys. In case you didn't know that and want to ask me if I'm going to try for a little girl, let me state for the record that I had three kids, none of them twins, within the span of less than 3.5 years. We're done. I can see the light at the end of the diaper tunnel.

Moving on.

Yesterday morning, my almost-4 year-old came into my room when he woke up in the morning. He found one of my bras on the floor beside the bed where I'd tossed it before getting into bed.

He picked it up and said, "It's your zebra, Mom."

"Where's the white stripes, Mom?"
Side note: I want to cry that he no longer calls me "Mommy."

"I look on the directions."

Then, he tries to put my bra on.

Looks down at himself and asks.....

"Where are my horns?"

Don't worry.

Hubs told him that they aren't called "horns."

Instead, they are

There's my Mommy Moment for this week. Be sure to click the Mommy Moments button and check out others and to share your own!

I suppose we have little to no say in how their imaginations work.

When I was 8 or 9, I was trying to sound smart in front of my brother and mom, so I referred to wetting the bed as "nocturnal emissions."

The laughter that ensued was just humiliating.

My brother thought it was funny, too.

My five year old has started calling me "Mother" when I do something she doesn't like! I miss being called Mommy! (But Blue Violet is right; she does go back to saying Mommy from time to time!)

That Man (aka the boyfriend) is Cajun and he refers to them as "tetons". I would love to ask him if he wants to see the Grand Tetons but yeah, that won't be happening. Oh, and his mother who is just as Cajun if not more so, just the other day told one of his girls (who are 27 and 25) her dress was a little short so be careful she didn't show her "galette". Galette = a little cake or pastry. I died laughing!

Kids. You have to laugh. A lot. I can't think of a good one right now. Oh okay, my oldest boy (4) wandered into the kitchen at about 9 p.m. last night and started peeing on the floor in his sleep. Matt walked in and he's like, what's going on and I'm all calm, Gee's sleep-peeing, but I was washing the dishes and my hands are greasy. The definition of a mother of four? She is phased by no amount of pee.

Boys (including Hooter husbands) especially have such a crazed interest in all things boob, huh? My best friend's son, who she breastfed, calls her breasts "Nursers" to this day even though he was weaned over a year ago and is now 3. The name cracks me up every time!

OOOh, it will be fun when your little man asks his teacher about her hooters! Or his Preacher's wife, or a really fat man, or a policewoman, or a nun, or the cute little red-headed girl he sits next to in school. Oh yeah, lots of fun!! I would suggest you let the source (ie, your husband) handle these discussions!!! Maybe HE can explain that hooters are what are kept in Ze-bras....that should clear things right up!! Oh yeah, I'm really pretty sure that there will be a sequel to your story somewhere down the line. :)

(I'm not trying to be mean, maybe I'm just naive, but all of you ladies do realize that many people are horrified or offended at the use of this word in polite company, right??)

The really interesting conversations come up about the penis, and my lack there of, and Brady asked if that means I have to pee out of my butt?
