Winnings and Showing You My Butt(sort of...)

If you are looking for my butt, you'll find it near the bottom of this post, of course. Sort of.

Usually, I whine that I don't win anything.

Hubs has awesome luck- he's won golf weekends, golf bags, golf clubs, shoes, countless restaurant gift cards, and even this laptop that I have hijacked from him.

He's a lucky duck. (Did you doubt it? He is married to me afterall.)

Okay, okay, I had to pause typing there for a full two minutes to stop laughing, thinking of Hubs' reaction if I read him that last line.

But, I actually have won a few things lately.

These first two in the same day.

I won this over at I Love My 5 Kids.

It's a really cute book for preschoolers/beginning readers. The pics are of Monkey and Bear, lounging in my bed, reading together.

How it works is that the kids pick any panel in the first two columns and then in the third, they find the panel that has the animals on them that they picked in the first two, and the numbers will match up. Like 1 frog in the first one, 3 mice in the second, and then they find the third panel that has a frog and mice on it and it will say something like "All 4 danced a jig" or something like that.

Anyway, it holds their attention, it's not a book that is getting old for them, and Monkey likes to look at the numbers and say 3+3=6 or whatever the math of that little story is that they created.

It's also very sturdy, so my destruct-o boys would have to work hard to tear it up.

Big thumbs up.

I won this from Raising My 4 Sons.
No pics of Cub using it, as he is a nonstop hose of oozing snot right now, and no one wants to see that.

This is quite possibly the coolest sippy ever. It's non-toxic, stainless steel, and it transitions from a sippy to a straw cup(straw attached inside so it doesn't get all chewed up and nasty). It's actually non-spill, unlike some other sippys that only claim to be. And the stainless steel doesn't get all gross, like some of our platic sippys.

Being the cheap-o that I am, the price threw me a bit($14.95), but it's very durable and, like I said, doesn't get all gross, so it would be worth the investment, rather than buying cheaper ones that have to be replaced all the time.

Cub loves it, especially as a straw cup, since he's convinced that he's a big boy.

I actually won this several months ago, from Supahmommy. That was back before she realized that we actually knew each other in real life and I was nervous that she'd toss me off her blog if she realized that we were actually in the same mom group together a lifetime ago, so this little gem was delivered to my mom's house. OMG, I sound like such a freak. She just finds this amusing.

Anyway, I had actually seen an ad for these things in a magazine in the peds office and thought they were just the coolest things- even borrowed the magazine from the peds office so that I wouldn't forget to check them out when I got home(hey, if you knew how often I had to take my boys to the peds office, you wouldn't think anything of my taking a magazine or fifty). Even they joke that my family singlehandedly pays all their bills. I was so excited that there was a giveaway for them on Supah's blog the very next day.
It's like a band that goes around your pants- giving the impression of an undershirt, without the bulk of one- and it stays in place, so if you are bending over(putting your kids in a stroller, tying a toddler's shoe, etc), your underwear or mommy fat or tramp stamp(yes, I have one...it was before they were called that! And no, the term didn't originate because I got one, either) doesn't show.

Monkey took this pic of me leaning over the tub, which explains why it's a little blurry. So there's my butt- but only sort of because of this hip-t.

They work really well- though if you are debating between two sizes, go for the smaller of the two. If only they could suck in some of my muffin top, they'd be like a miracle creation.
I did wear this with my gigantic sucker-in-er underpants that come up to my boobs. It's nice to know that THOSE won't be showing when I lean over, either.
So, there's my round-up of some really cool stuff that I won. Woo-hoo! If I can figure out how to get free stuff, I'll start doing some giveaways here, too! ;)
P.S. I'm now on Twitter- not that I know what I'm doing on there: shellthings

LOL that Hip T thing is funny. At first I was like wow, just wear two shirts, but I do like the idea that it holds down the fort (so to speak) when you bend over. Nice. :)

Congrats on all your winnigs!

I just went online and bought a dozen of those butt covers...and why didn't I think of that? Seriously, I've been complaining about that forever...Thanks!

I'm most intrigued by the hip-t thing, too. How tight is it? How far up your torso does it go? Are you at risk of bending completely over and your top shirt going up and exposing this weird fake shirt band?

I love winning stuff, although I really never do. The hip-t is a great idea. It's kind of like that Bella band thingie they have for pregnancy. Thought that was a great idea too.
Happy New Year!

Congrats on your winnings! I am intrigued by the hip-t too. Very neat. It would be a fabulous invention if it sucked in the muffin top and sucked in the flabby skin on the front of my stomach from Baby#3 that is NEVER going to go away...

This is my first time stopping by and I love your site. I think out of all of the the things you won the book is the coolest. How great that kids can choose a story by flipping different pages! I think that it is wonderful! Please stop by and visit www.askbecca.com when you get a chance. The new year has brought a bunch of new things and I am anxious to share them.

I, too, got it before it was called that.

So why, now, do I feel so icky about it?

I don't know about the Hip T... reminds me a lot of the belly band I wore through my pregnancy...
