Leave My Shoes Alone: Thank You Very Much!
I just love the excuse to rant that Kmama's Thank You Very Much gives me, so I'm linking up and getting some of my rantings out.
Boys, how about instead of sleeping in on a day when we have to be out the door early, you pick a day when Mommy could actually get a little extra sleep as well? Tomorrow would work for me. Thank you very much.
To Hubs, who invited your friends over at the last minute and expected me to make dinner for everyone. And even though I made blackened chicken cajun alfredo and cream puffs with chocolate pots de creme...all from scratch...you had to ruin it all when YOUR guests were snacking on the spinach artichoke dip (that I bought from the deli) as I was finishing up cooking...the one freaking thing that I didn't make myself...when they said that they liked the dip, you had to sarcastically say, "Made it from scratch." To you, I say thank you very much...and that next time you invite guests over, YOU make dinner.
To my parents, who decided that it was appropriate to discuss Tiger and all his drama in front of my children and pass on their obnoxious racism by teaching Monkey the wonderful saying of "Canaries and blackbirds don't mix," Thank you very much.
Cub, I really appreciate the way that you chose my brand new actually-fit-me-awesome jeans to use as your snot rag. Thank you very much.
And Hubs, yet again, thank you very much for raining on my shoe parade. I decided to try to get some shoes that were more stylish and made me look more put together than always throwing on flip-flops or my ancient Docs. And you see them by the door and ask, "Did your mom leave a pair of her shoes here?" Thank you very much!
They are cute, yes? Or maybe not...I'm not exactly the fashion queen. But these have to be better than my usual flip-flops, right?
I do have a sincere thanks to give those of you who read my post yesterday and gave me wonderful words of support. I do greatly appreciate you and will share more of what is going on when I can.

(I'm a new follower of your blog...LOVE what I've seen so far!).
My grandparents like to pass on racism to my kids, too. I've decided that I call them out on it now. It makes for an uncomfortable few minutes at family gatherings, but my children see what WE believe being trumped over what a couple believe.
And I love the shoes! I have some very similar...when I'm also not wearing flip flops or slip on tennis shoes. :D
LOVE the shoes!!! Don't listen to a man who doesn't have enough sense to shut his pie hole when his lovely wife caters dinner for him and his buds.
Should have spit in the dip - a little "homemade" touch.

love the shoes! I have a shoe problem. I can't find any I like lately and well, I need new shoes. I feel like I'm too old for Docs now, and I don't like the new Sketchers style. Ugh.

I think the shoes are very cute! Never pay attention to what a man says...they wouldn't know cute shoes if they kicked them. It is always the favorite pair of pants that gets all the abuse! ;0)

I am no fashionista to be sure, but I think the shoes are darling! I am guilty of throwing on my crocs or tennis shoes as often as I can. I suck!
That meal sounds delicious! And men don't know much about anything, IMHO.
Next dinner party I am there! And I promise to stay away from the dip! ;) Being the snot rag seems to be the story of my life! It's gotten so bad I've caught my dear husband using my leg as his napkin once...GAW!
Those are GREAT! First, I love your new shoes-- I want to get myself a similar pair. And by "Docs", do you mean "Doc Martens"??? Gosh, I'd almost forgotten about that staple of middle school style!
And your parents... WHOA. Sounds like something my mother-in-law (or grandmother, but she's somewhat senile, so...) would say. WRONG.

cream puffs...from scratch?!? I think I'd be "thanking you very much" too!!! Guys can't appreciate a good cream puff or chocolate pots de creme...save that for a girls night in...and invite me! LOL

I think your shoes are super cute! Are they flat or heel/wedge? What do guys know about shoes anyway? As for what your parents said about Tiger Woods... that would NOT have gone over well with me. My FIL makes comments that come close to crossing the line and I make it very clear that It's Not Ok. Certainly not an easy conversation.
And I'm with you on the sleeping in days. Never do my kids sleep when I can actually sleep.

My kids seem to always sleep in on the days I have to get up early and they wake up too early on days I want to sleep in! Why?
And I am also dealing with snotty kids that like to use me as a kleenex. Again, WHY?!
