When my nephew was 2, he took the childproof latch off the cupboard, got the dog treat out, then proceeded to lock the cupboard again. I'm pretty sure he thought the latch was to keep the dog out.

So true on the toy guns!

I gave up on the gun battle. I won't buy my son a gun, but I don't need to. Apparently he thinks the mini hockey sticks we have can be used instead.

First, I have to chuckle each week... because I work for 3M (maker of Post Its)!

I soooo hear you on that preschool winter break being over!! I'm not sure my family would have survived another week...

The blanket and pillow thing- hilarious! And then kinda icky... and then back to giggling!

Happy New Year! My husband got his first toy gun for Christmas and we have been shooting the hell out of the basement. If you don't buy them now, they will destroy everything when they get them as adults.

Yes, anti-toy-gun mom here and yes, mine too build them out of Lego and K'nex.

Grandpa bought a BB gun (not happy about that) for the 12 year old, he managed to shoot his little brother in his tush by accident and we are back to Lego again, lol.

Too funny about building the toy gun! We never had one, but I was shocked by how fast my 1.5 y/o at the time was drawn to one at someone else's house. Picked it right up and started going "Pchoo! Pchoo!" pretending to shoot. Sort of disturbing and adorable at the same time.

I *am* an anti-toy-gun mom...BUT my oldest has been making "spirits" (what he named them) out of everything he can get his hands on since he was about 2 & could name things...and could "blast" things away. Whatever! It's like it's in their blood!

Sorry you didn't get a visit from the Belk Santa. I saw that commercial... he is pretty hot. Just keep telling yourself he's probably gay.

My kids have a closet full of every toy weapon you could imagine (and they make guns out of their k'nex too ~ that totally cracked me up).

Oh no, I am one of those "anti-toy-gun" moms you speak of! But not for everybody, just for me. Guns terrify me. Too bad DH is in law enforcement, and has to carry the real thing. Eeeek!

I used to take my blanket and pillow and sleep outside my parents room. My parents would come out in the morning and see me lying there. I guess I was too afraid to wake them up but missed them.

Funny about the guns. What IS it about guns that are so intriguing to little kids anyway?

Cute post (its).

January 5, 2010 at 5:48 PM

TRUE THAT about the guns. Just give them the real deal and let them kill small rodents...or shoot their eyes out. I'm a hillyup, what else can I say?

SO NOT mean that you think my diabolical diarrhea is hilarious. Toilet humor is my bag, baby. Actually, I think it's kind of funny how many people are like, "yikes! feel better!" because I would never think of that if I read about someone else's mad poo. Just sayin. Maybe we're both mean?

Eh, I just don't care.
