Why I blog and a Get-Out-of-the-House-Kid-Free Card

Yes, I double-dip.
And proud of it.

I couldn't resist this Top 3 Thursday question this week: What are your TOP THREE reasons for blogging?

3. It's much more fun than doing housework.

2. It stops me from exploding: Believe it or not, I actually TRY to be polite out in public. And not always say what I'm thinking because I don't want to hurt someone's feelings or even more that I don't want to look insane. It's not like you can walk up to a total stranger and pour your heart out. And yet, you can on your blog. It's like free therapy.

And the #1 and probably only completely serious answer of mine:
1. The friendships I've made.

Really. I can't believe the friends that I have made through blogging. I've definitely found "my tribe," along with my bloggysister and now even my irl BFF blogs.

I feel like I know you and that you know me.

That it will not be weird at all when I get to meet some of you soon. It will be just like seeing an old friend.

I want to especially thank those of you who were so supportive of my post about Bear yesterday.  And hope that you'll understand that I totally sucked at getting to all of your blogs yesterday because of his evaluation and some lab work I had to take him in for.

Do you know that aside from my BFF, I really didn't tell many people irl about what we have been going through with Bear? Because I really felt like they would judge. People I called friends. And I was worried about them judging.

And yet, I didn't hesitate to post about him here.

And pretty much beg you to read that post.

Because y'all are FABULOUS.

And, THAT is why I blog.

I will be posting about his evaluation soon.
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

*****

And, Shhhhhhhhh! I have to share this secret with you. I wasn't going to double dip today, but I had to, so that I could share this really cool trick that I learned for getting out of the house kid-free and on time! Plus I wanted to show you the cool ice cream thing I made. Cool, ice cream? Yes, I love puns.

How did I manage to get my time out without kids in tow this month?

Hubs is really good at trying to find that time for me, but he also works his ass off for us so that I can plop my ass in front of the computer and blog all day long stay home with our boys.

But, I really wanted to get out and see Dear John all by myself on a Sunday afternoon. You can read my review HERE.

Want to know my tip for making sure that you do actually get out to the movies when you want to?

FANDANGO!!!!

Yes, go ahead and buy your ticket ahead of time online.

And then you can say, "Oh, I already bought my ticket and so I have to be there for the 1:15 show or we eat that ticket."

It was my easiest exit from the house, ever.

Fandango, I you!

That's crazy....all my friends live in my computer too!!! Coincidence? I think not:)

I have made really good friends from blogging too...text with them, talk on the phone, email each other...I haven't met any in person yet but I know we will soon.

Oh, you are so right, blogging is like free therapy lol!!

Great idea about Fandango;)

Can't wait to see the next dance off! I would never ever do it myself but I enjoy being a spectator.

It keeps me from exploding too. I don't have kids, but I have a feeling I will be very anti- motherbitch when I do, and I thank you for the correct name to refer to them as. I cried my way through your post yesterday. I hope everything turns out great for you and your sons.

That's an excellent way to guarantee getting out of the house! I'll be sure NOT to tell my husband about it.

All my friends live in my computer makes me laugh. I find myself wondering if I'm a bit crazy when I start talking to my face to face friends about my bloggy friends...

Yes! These are also the reasons that I blog! Sorry I didn't have a chance to comment yesterday. I'm so happy to hear about Bear's progress, but it sucks that you feel judged by your irl friends. Blogging is such a great outlet. I do wish that the irl friends/family could find a way to be as supportive as our bloggy friends.

Fandango IS a lifesaver! I am never on time for movies and my favorite part is always the previews. I like to know what is coming out even if I will never see most of them.

I know you said you don't like scary movies, but Shutter Island was really good. I read the book first so I wasn't as scared as I probably would have been otherwise. It's a good read!

Don't you love fandango. I never go to a movie anymore without buying a ticket from there first. No lines!!

I love the bloggy friends I've made while blogging :) That's a reason why I blog too...

& kick those people in the butt...no one should ever judge you about that.

Heck ya its more fun than housework!!!

I definitely think since I started blogging I explode a little...just a little less!

It makes me sad about people judging you because I know exactly how that feels...I get it all the time and I've had to learn to just let them have their stupid opinions because unless you are living with the issue yourself you have no idea!

Fabulous idea about getting out of the house..genius just genius!

There is something necessary about getting out of the house. I know this and I don't have children, so I think that's probably 10 times more true for moms who need a break.

I'm glad Fandango is there for you!

Just the other day I was talking to my hubs how I imagine meeting lots of my bloggy friends one day and I think it would be like meeting an old friend.I put stuff on my blog that I wouldn't tell anybody else, yet I tell the whole world.
My blog really makes me be myself without worrying about judgment.

I am so sorry to hear about Bear. I was MIA for few days so I need to go over and read it.

Man! I forgot about the Time Out thing! I would've double-dipped too! I love that you went to the movie by yourself, I think I would really like that. Especially since The Husband knows I like his types of movies too, so going to chick flicks happens less and less frequently!!!

I love that you feel like you can talk to "us" about Bear, and things that you think real world friends might judge you for. I couldn't agree more. Blogging is my outlet for talking about my son, where I don't feel anyone will hurt my feelings with "You shoulda: or "you coulda" or "I woulda". Keep writing; I love your blog!

Oh Shell! You have been through so much! I just read your post on Bear and I am really happy he is getting better. There is nothing like the pain of a parent worrying about the health of their child.
